Official PlayStation App for iOS and Android released

Sony Europe has released the ‘PlayStation Official App’ for all iPhone, iPod touch and Android handsets, giving PlayStation fans a convenient way to access their PlayStation Network (PSN) account on the go.

Have you ever wished you could track your trophies on the PlayStation Network (PSN) or track your friends’ online and game statuses on the go? Well, now you can – but only if you live in one of six European countries chosen to receive Version 1.0 of the ‘PlayStation Official App’ from Sony Europe.

Announced last December and released yesterday via the iTunes App Store and Android Market, this app allows you to access the PlayStation Network directly from your mobile device, and also gives you the latest updates on PlayStation games and hardware – all in a snazzy interface that matches the overall PlayStation look and feel.

This app also provides the latest announcements from the European PlayStation.Blog, and you can share these announcements, as well as your favourite news and products with your friends and family via Facebook, Twitter, and e-mail.

The ‘PlayStation Official App’ is only available in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands at present, and is compatible with all iPhones/iPod Touches running iOS 4, and Android devices running 1.6 and above.

An additional twenty countries, including Australia and New Zealand, are slated to receive the next version of the app with country specific content in early 2011. Sadly though, Singapore is not on the list and there is no indication when this app will hit our shores.
