Obsidian Entertainment preps pitch of new Star Wars game to Disney

What could be the first Star Wars based content that Disney releases? How about a new game from the makers of Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords? Obsidian Entertainment may be pitching a new game to Disney soon.

Developer of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, Obsidian Entertainment, has a new Star Wars game in mind–they're just waiting for the right time to pitch it to Disney.

“I would say it’s within the top three pitches we’ve ever come up with,” Studio head Feargus Urquhart claims. “There’s a lot of different eras in Star Wars, and that’s what we would focus on.”

This wouldn't be the first time Obsidian has pitched this idea: they have pitched story lines that took place between Episode 3 and 4 to LucasArts. Urquhart says, "We think that time frame is super interesting. It’s the fall of the Republic, the extermination of the Jedi, it’s Obi-Wan going off and making sure Luke is OK."

Obsidian Entertainment has really latched onto the time frame in the story because it has elements that fans remember. “It can just completely not involve the movies. It can tease them, but nothing else,” says Urquhart.

Failure hasn't stopped Obsidian's attempts at making this game into reality and it's ready to show it to Disney.

“We haven't talked with Disney yet. We're kind of waiting for the smoke to clear. But that's one of my next big things to do. To kind of go over there and get the ball rolling again.” Urquhart concluded.

This could be a bad time for another Star Wars game to come out due to the MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic, becoming free to play. Fans loved Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords, even though it was rushed, but is that enough incentive for Disney to give them the green-light?
