Nvidia’s Tegra K1 is a Snapdragon killer

Benchmarks show the Tegra K1 packs some serious processor punch.

One of the few hardware wins that Nvidia managed to score with its Tegra K1 SoC, Xiaomi’s Mi Pad, was recently revealed in China and is set to be launched in the Middle Kingdom sometime mid-year.

The Tegra K1 — which Nvidia erroneously claims is on-par with a Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 in terms of performance — packs four Cortex-A15 cores clocked at 2.3GHz and 192-core Kelper GPU.

Chinese-language blog Evolife managed to obtain a device running a Tegra K1. They don’t say which device it is, meaning that it could very well be an Nvidia-made reference device and not a bona-fide hardware win like like the Xiaomi Mi Pad. According to CPU-Z, whatever device it was was running Android 4.4.2 KitKat and comes with 4GB of RAM as well as a 320ppi display.

As you can see by the benchmarks, it makes light work out of the Snapdragon 801:
