NVIDIA has released the new GeForce Hotfix driver 378.77, which brings much needed fixes for some of the issues that plagued the GeForce 378.66 WHQL drivers released last week. These include the following:
- Fixed driver installation errors for laptops with GeForce GTX 1050 and 1050 TI GPUs.
- Fixed crash in Minecraft and some other Java-based titles
- Resolved ‘Debug Mode’ as default option on Pascal based GPUs
In case you are confused, this is not a new release. A hotfix driver only includes fixes to serious issues with a previous release that may be affecting a large number of users. Instead of making users wait for the next major WHQL driver release, NVIDIA releases hotfix drivers to get these fixes out more quickly. If you haven’t noticed any of the above issues in your system, you aren’t required to download this hotfix driver. You should instead wait for the next GeForce WHQL driver to be released.
Apart from the fixes, the GeForce 378.77 driver includes all the optimizations and improvements that the GeForce 378.666 WHQL drivers came with. You get optimizations for games such as Sniper Elite 4, For Honor, and Halo Wars 2.
