Nokia’s Lumia 925 goes on sale in India, and the Lumia 625 pre-orders sell out

Nokia has launched the Lumia 925 in the Indian market, with the Lumia 625 set to follow by the end of the month. Meanwhile, pre-orders for the Lumia 625 sold out in under a day on an Indian e-commerce website.

The Lumia 625 is Nokia’s largest device to date, and features a 4.7-inch screen. The screen resolution is decidedly lacklustre at 800X480, as is the pixel density at 201 ppi. The mobile features a Snapdragon S4 chip that has a 1.2 GHz dual-core CPU. The 512 MB RAM is meagre, as is the 8 GB of internal memory. However, there is a micro-SD slot that can take storage to 64 GB. A 5 MP camera at the back can shoot full-HD videos, and there is a VGA front-facing shooter. The device comes with a 2,000 mAh battery.

Lumia 625

The Lumia 625 has already acquired a 1 percent Windows Phone market share in Thailand after being launched just three days ago.  The 625 will be targeted at the budget market in India, and if the pre-order numbers are any indication, it looks like the Lumia 625 will be a worthy successor to the Lumia 520, which still accounts for 27 percent of the global Windows Phone 8 market. Indian e-commerce site Snapdeal had the Lumia 625 on pre-order, which was sold out after just a day. The device will be available in India in the last week of August for $250.

The Nokia Lumia 925 went on sale in India this week, and is available for $554 (Rs. 34,169). The Lumia 925 comes with a 4.5-inch 720p AMOLED display that features Nokia’s ClearBlack technology that allows for better contrast. The device features a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, 1 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM, 8.7MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization, dual-LED flash, full-HD video recording and a 1.2MP front-facing camera that can shoot videos in 720p. The device comes with a 2,000 mAh battery.
