No more Tug of Wars with that stubborn plug

I’m sure everyone has had the experience of trying to yank out that stubborn plug and worrying whether which will give way first, the plug or the power socket. That problem is finally solved by a UK design student! Why hasn’t anyone thought of this simple solution earlier?

Behold, the eject button. The solution couldn’t be simpler, it makes me wonder why no one has attempted to solve this problem previously. Well, better late then never.

Designed by UK design student Glen Crombie, this simple but ingenious design won first prize at the Future Perfect Company design competition. Which sought for elegant solutions to problems faced by an aging population.

The design is simple, a push of the button raises three prongs which push the plug right out of the socket. Solving the problem of the elderly being unable to yank the plug out due to gripping or strength issues.
