Nanya Offer More & Cheaper GDDR Chips

Nanya this month will see a significant increase in its graphics DRAM shipments, a market that has been controlled by foreign firms. Nanya has re-allocated capacity to fulfill robust order for graphics DRAM. For the past three months, prices for graphics DRAM increased at a faster pace than PC-use DRAM. Average spot prices for 256Mbit (16Mbitx16) DDR400 increased 2.9% while the 32Mbitx8 parts remained flat, according to DRAMeXchange. Both chips are now traded at US$ 4.93 per chip. Nanya’s graphics 256Mbit (16Mbitx16) DRAM is quoted at an average of US$ 5.5-5.6 per chip, about US$ 0.5 cheaper than market leader Samsung Electronics.
