Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi tablet lands in Singapore

Motorola has finally brought their XOOM Android tablet to Singapore, when it was launched in US on 24 February. You can get your hands on the tablet this "Good Friday" holiday. Details inside.

Motorola Mobility has announced that the Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi tablet will launch in Singapore on 22 April this week. The Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi runs on the Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) platform designed specifically for tablets. Singapore becomes the first market in Southeast Asia to launch the tablet.

Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi features a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB memory and 32GB storage, front and rear-facing cameras, and the latest Google Mobile services on a 10.1-inch widescreen high definition (HD) display.

The tablet claims to deliver fast performance and showcases the innovations of the Honeycomb user experience – including widgets, true multi-tasking, tabbed browsing, notifications and customization. It also has support for HDMI which enables viewing of videos on larger screens, such as HDTVs. A 5-megapixel rear camera can also capture videos in HD, while the 2-megapixle front camera enables clear video chats using Google Talk. 

The latest Google Mobile services include Google Maps 5.0 with 3D interaction and access to more than 150,000 apps from the Android Market. Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi also supports a beta version of Adobe Flash Player 10.2 downloadable from Android Market, enabling the delivery of rich Flash-based web content including videos, games and rich Internet applications. The tablet also features a built-in gyroscope, barometer, e-compass, accelerometer and adaptive lighting. It supports up to 10 hours of video playback, and charges in half the time of competitive tablets on the market.

– A Standard Dock for watching video content or listening to music through external speakers as the device charges

– A Speaker HD Dock for sending HD content directly to a TV or clearly listening to music through two built-in speakers without attaching external speakers

– A custom Bluetooth wireless keyboard with special Android shortcut keys.

Pricing and Availability
Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi will be available at Challenger, Courts, Newstead, Best Denki, Harvey Norman and Mustafa from 22 April at a recommended retail price of S$888.
