Motorola Defy Review: Android smartphone built to fit your lifestyle

The Motorola Defy comes in a reasonably-sized, yet distinctive packaging that shows the picture of the smartphone at the front and the model name near the bottom. To take out the phone, you don’t have to open up the top flap; simply pull the red box out from the bottom.

Bundled accessories include a user manual, a booklet on safety, regulations and legal information, stereo earphones, microUSB cable and power adapter.

On the left is the micro-USB port for charging the phone’s battery and data transfer to your PC. Apparently, the screws that bound the phone body together can be seen on almost every side of the Defy. Not exactly very sightly if you asked.

The phone volume control buttons which also act as the camera zoom are on the right. There is no camera shutter button, meaning that you will have to rely on the onscreen shutter button to take your photos or record videos.

The power button and 3.5mm audio jack (with rubber cover) are conveniently located at the top.

At the rear is the 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash which is sufficient enough to take decent pictures and videos.

The rear cover is easy to remove, just push the lever at the bottom to unlock position and lift up the cover. The Defy comes with a 1540mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery and a 2GB microSD memory card for data storage. It uses the regular SIM card slot located at the bottom left of the compartment.
