Marvell’s Plug Computing – Portable At Its Best ?

With companies striving to create more portable gadgets, Marvell introduces Plug Computing.

Known
as a SheevaPlug, this little device is around the shape of a power
adaptor and is powered by plugging it directly into a electrical
socket.

Powered by a Marvell Kirkwood processor based on an embedded 1.2GHz Sheeva CPU equipped with 512 Mbytes of FLASH and 512 Mbytes of DRAM. Network connectivity is via Gigabit Ethernet. Peripherals
such as direct attached storage can be connected using a USB 2.0 port.

With the specifications above, basic application usage like Internet surfing, checking of emails are possible.

The SheevaPlug development kit is available now for US$99  the design details and the software needed to develop applications
for the SheevaPlug platform are available through the Marvell website.
