Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 Now Mac-Compatible

Mac enthusiasts can now enjoy fast, free, and easy-to-use Logitech Vid HD with the HD Pro Webcam C910, now compatible with Mac. Encompassing top-of-the-line performance in an exceptionally thin webcam just 25millimetres thick, the C910 webcam also adds a modern minimialist touch to any MacBook, iMac or Mac Pro.

It is generally accepted that most Mac users will not think of using anything that is not officially approved by the great El Jobsco unless there are very compelling reasons to do so. Unsurprisingly, this also applies to the built-in iSight webcam that comes standard with just about every single Mac in the market today (except the Mac Pro), and provides users with a decent out-of-the-box video chat experience.

But with faster broadband Internet speeds and the rapid acceptance of HD video as the norm in media consumption today, it should probably come as no surprise that Mac users would probably want to experience the thrills of conducting video conversations and recording short clips in HD resolutions. And while iSight is perfectly capable of performing the latter, it still does not offer the option for users to conduct HD video chats. However, that is all set to change now that Logitech has updated its HD Pro Webcam C910 to feature Mac compatibility.

According to Logitech, the Mac-compatible HD Pro Webcam C910 has the capability to deliver video conversations at resolutions of up to 720p and has been confirmed to be plug-and-play ready with Apple’s most commonly used video communication software such as iChat and Face Time. In addition, the company also claims that the webcam will play nice with other popular third-party video-calling clients such as Skype, Yahoo! Messenger and Gmail Voice and Video chat, so Mac users do not have to worry about the C910 being unsupported by their favourite video communication services.

In addition, the C910 is capable of recording videos at full HD resolution (1080p) can be easily uploaded to video sharing sites like FaceBook and YouTube at a click of a single button after downloading the free Logitech Webcam Software For Mac. Last but not least, the C910 can be used to take 10-megapixel still images, which makes it s good substitute for a compact digital camera under certain circumstances.

If that sounds interesting (or poisonous) enough to warrant getting one, do take note that the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 is currently available for sale at a suggested retail price of S$159. And as a bonus, the webcam is also fully supported in Windows, which will make it a useful device to own if you happen to be making use of a dual-boot configuration.
