LG G Flex launching in South Korea next week, in Europe by December

Those in South Korea will soon have two smartphones with curved displays to choose from, as the LG G Flex is set to launch in the country next week.

The mid-November launch was rumored recently, and now LG has given it an official backing through a press release. The G Flex – which was recently revealed as actually being flexible, unlike Samsung’s Galaxy Round – will be priced at 999,900 Korean Won, or about $940. That’s lower than the $1000+ price of the Galaxy Round, but that is how it should be, since the G Flex has lesser specs than its only competitor – 720p vs 1080p, 2GB vs 3GB RAM, older version of Android, and so on.

LG’s press release also confirmed that the device would be launching in Europe a month later, at least in France on carrier Orange, though a price wasn’t mentioned. A launch outside South Korea isn’t something Samsung is planning on for the Galaxy Round, so even limited availability outside its home country should help LG get the upper hand in the battle of flexible smartphones. Well, not that that changes the fact about no one actually wanting to spend a dime on these curvy things, right?
