Kingston Rolls Out Its First USB 3.0 Thumbdrives

Kingston Digital has announced the shipping of its first-ever USB 3.0 Flash drives under the DataTraveler branding. Dubbed as the DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0, it offers maximum read and write speeds of up to 80MB/x and 60 MB/s respectively. Are you ready to embrace the high-speed data transfer that the USB 3.0 standard claims to offer?

USB 3.0 may have yet to fully become mainstream, but that has not stopped hardware manufacturers from churning out USB 3.0-capable devices, in spite of the lack of such ports in most PCs.

However, if you happen to have to a spare USB 3.0 port somewhere in your desktop PC or notebook, you may want to consider investing in a decent USB 3.0 device to take full advantage of the standard’s super high-speed transfer rate. And Kingston’s new DataTraveler thumbdrive seems like a good place to start.

Dubbed the DataTravelerUltimate 3.0 series of thumbdrives, it offers maximum read and write speeds of up to 80MB/x and 60 MPBS respectively, and can operate at temperatures between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius.

“USB 3.0 is the next major milestone in Flash memory for USB products and Kingston wants to have a solution in the marketplace for early adopters,” said Andrew Ewing, USB business manager, Kingston. “The DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 is our first USB 3.0 Flash drive offering and is designed for enthusiasts who like to embrace new technology before it goes mainstream.”

The DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 is available in three different capacities (16GB, 32GB and 64GB) at the recommended retail prices of US$89, US$138 and US$270, respectively.
