Just in: Google Chrome Cr-48 Laptop Found For Sale on eBay

Now that didn’t take long, didn’t it? It has been only about a couple of weeks since Google made headlines with their Cr-48 notebook, which ran off a beta version of its web-based Chrome OS. And today, it appears that those who were lucky enough to get their hands on a Cr-48 have a found a quick way to make a little extra cash this Christmas: by selling it off on eBay.

Google may have announced that their Cr-48 pilot program is only open to users in the US, but that does not mean that us Asians cannot get our hands on these notebooks in one way or the other. And the good news is that there is now a way to actually‘own’ one of the thousands of Cr-48 Chrome OS notebooks that Google have released, albeit for a small cost, of course.

Apparently, it seems that some people who were successful in their application for the Cr-48 have gotten bored of their machines due to various reasons. And because of that, they decided that they would attempt to make a quick buck out of their acquisition by…you guessed it, selling them Cr-48 notebooks on eBay.

Of course, we thought that it would be impossible for such a thing to happen, and that the people who claimed to actually do so were merely jesting. That was until we actually took a look over at eBay Singapore and entered in words “Cr-48” into the search box, which came up with the following results:

From the looks of it, anything that is remotely related to Google’s Cr-48 notebook can be considered fair game for selling, and this apparently includes the empty box it came in. This is not surprising though: if you stop to think about it, the Cr-48 is currently only available in very limited quantities. This makes it somewhat of a ‘limited edition’ notebook which would definitely appeal to collectors and enthisiasts who are keen on getting a hands-on at Google’s new cloud-based operating system.

That being said, this is also a good time for us to point out that anything which goes up on eBay need not always be legitimate, and scam cases are all but common knowledge. Feel free to bid for the Cr-48 on eBay if you want, but remember to keep in mind the golden rule of “buyer beware”.
