Intel’s upcoming Broadwell-E Core i7-6950X rumored to carry a $1500 price tag

According to a report from Computerbase, the upcoming Intel Broadwell-E Core i7-6950X ten core processor is going to be priced at $1500 when it launches.

The Broadwell-E HEDT processor family will be manufactured on a 14nm process and are expected to be launched in the second half of the year. The lineup will consist of four SKUs – Core i7-6950X, Core i7-6900K, Core i7-6850K, and the Core i7-6800K. The flagship Core i7-6950X will be the world’s first 10-core HEDT processor, while the Core i7-6900K will be an octa-core processor. The more affordable Core i7-6850K and 6800K will feature six cores with hyper-threading.

The website also spotted a refreshed Intel X99 motherboard at CES 2016, offering support for Broadwell-E HEDT processors. The refreshed Intel X99 motherboards will come with support for all the latest features such as USB 3.1 connectors, M.2/NVMe SSD support, and an Intel Thunderbolt 3 controller. These refreshed Intel X99 boards will most likely debut at Computex 2016 later this year, along with the Broadwell-E HEDT lineup.
