Intel plans to add a new series of high performance processors for notebooks
when Santa Rosa comes about in Q2 2007. It will be under the Core 2 Extreme
series codenamed Merom XE based on the new Socket P. The first processor will be
X7800 clocked at 2.6GHz at 800MHz FSB with 4MB L2 cache. Its TDP is yet to be
determined. Mass production is slated for Q2-Q3 and we can expect a price tag of
US$ 795 at launch. There is a higher clocked X7900 at 2.8GHz at the end of this
year.
