Intel 945GZ Chipset For Mainstream

Intel will add a new integrated 945 chipset, the 945GZ, to bring support for Pentium D dual-core processors to the mainstream market, with volume production slated for the first quarter of 2006. The 945GZ will not offer a PCIe x16 graphics port, will only support 800/533 MHz FSB speeds and provide a single-channel DDR2 memory controller. Intel plans for its dual-core Pentium D platform to enter the mainstream segment starting from the second-half of next year.
