MultiCuber 3″ is the latest contraption from ARM Engineer and coder David Gilday that allows to leverage a Smartphone’s computational power to solve a 4 x 4 Rubik’s Cube. In case you couldn’t make out anything from what you just read, simply check out the video posted below:

Combining “Lego Mindstorms”, algorithms and some style, a custom-coded app takes snapshots of the cube and feeds it into the phone, which then calculates (via the app) which move to take next so as to be able to solve this color-coded 4 x 4 tiled puzzle. Gilday mentions that while a human would solve the cube best at about 120 moves, using the Huawei Ascend P6, the contraption packing the cube was solved in a cool 50 moves. This doesn’t win any awards or accolades but is definitely interesting to watch. So what are you waiting for? Hit the play button on the videos above and below now!
