HTC One receives Android 4.2.2 OTA in Taiwan

A Taiwanene HTC One international user was the first to receive the Android 4.2.2 OTA firmware update. Global roll out just round the corner?

HTC One Android 4.2.2 OTA update (1)

Are you using the HTC One international model and are tired of waiting for the Android 4.2.2 update? Good news for you, a user in Taiwan has received the Android 4.2.2 OTA firmware update, becoming the first HTC One international model user to get the new update.

Waiting for OEMs to update their phones to newer versions of Android can be frustrating. The wait becomes worse when competitors update their phones much earlier, and then there’s the fact that you own a flagship phone, with no update for months. HTC One owners have been desperately waiting for the Android 4.2.2 update, which will bring a host of new features alongwith. The issue isn’t the software that has to be updated at any cost, but rather the fact that when other companies have already updated their flagship phones, then why is HTC lagging behind? The situation gets worse when you see cheap Chinese phones with 1080p panels, quad-core processors and 2 GB RAM all running on the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean build from the start.

Anyways, the ranting ends here for the HTC One, as the update for the international model is just about to drop on us. Here’s the changelog:

  • Launcher bar enhancement
  • Widget panel rearrangement
  • New lock screen style and widget
  • Enhanced behavior of the home button
  • The death of the black bar
  • Battery percentage in the status bar
  • Quick settings
  • AE/AF enhancements in the camera

Although the update is only localized in the Taiwan region (as of now), that is likely to change when HTC begins commencement of a global rollout soon (perhaps by the end of this week itself). Cheers!
