HIS unveiled its latest mid-range graphics card, the Radeon HD 6670 iSilence 4. The card employs a Zalman-made silent graphics processor cooling solution to ride the "silent" bandwagon. The use of cooler and quieter DDR3 memory could also have a role in keeping the card light.

To begin with, HIS opted for a Zalman VNF100 GPU cooler. It consists of a GPU base from which heat is conveyed to the main heatsink over three heatpipes. The heatsink hovers over the reverse (solder) side of the PCB instead of obverse (component), it's a given that in most setups, the reverse side faces the top, and so placing the heatsink here would help with convectional cooling.

The heatsink cools only the GPU, the AMD-branded DDR3 memory chips draw very little power (compared to GDDR5), and can make to with no additional cooling, so is the simple VRM that uses conventional up-down MOSFET configuration.

The Radeon HD 6670 is based on the 40 nanometer "Turks" silicon by AMD, it is DirectX 11 compliant, and packs 480 stream processors, and a 128-bit wide memory interface. The HIS HD 6670 iSilence 4 relies entirely on the motherboard for power, it lacks additional CrossFire bridge interfaces. Display outputs include one each of DVI, HDMI 1.4a (with 7.1 channel HD audio), and D-Sub (VGA).

Pricing and availability are still unknown.
