High Power Direct12 BR 1000W PSU review

The High Power Direct12 BR 1000W unit is a relatively simple looking power supply. The chassis is sprayed with a dark grey matte paint whilst the fan’s blades are white, forming a contrasting theme. Despite its great power output the chassis of the Direct12 BR 1000W unit is relatively small, measuring only 160mm deep.

High Power placed a decorative sticker at the right side of the unit, which will be visible if the power supply is installed upside down or if the case has a windowed right side panel.

The company logo is subtly engraved at the left side of the unit.

The sticker with the unit's electrical specifications and approvals can be found at the top side of the unit.

The rear is entirely perforated to allow for the air pushed by the cooling fan to escape towards the outside of the case. The unit uses a standard AC power cable and there is an oversized rocker on/off switch right next to the AC power plug.

At the front we can see the numerous connectors for the modular cables. The black connectors are for the SATA/Molex power cables whereas the red connectors are for the PCIe cables. High Power installed labels which not only indicate what each connector is for but the specific use of each individual pin of every connector. This unit offers the following number of connectors:

Native cables

24-pin ATX connector

1 x 8 pin EPS12V/ATX12V CPU connector

1 x 4+4 pin EPS12V/ATX12V CPU connector

Modular cables

8 x 6+2 pin 12V PCIe connectors

12 x SATA connectors

4 x Molex connectors

1 x Floppy connector

Note that this power supply has a very limited number of Molex connectors and the floppy adapter takes up one Molex connector as well.
