Halo and BSG writer joins Amazon Game Studios as head of narrative design

Eric Nylund, who wrote three novels in the Halo universe, including the critically acclaimed Fall of Reach, has joined Amazon Game Studios as director of narrative design.

Amazon Game Studios was announced last year, and is currently making social games that users can play directly on their browser or on Facebook. The only title launched by the studio until now is Air Patriots, which is a tower defense game. Amazon is currently hiring for numerous positions at its studio, and it has also launched its own digital games store.

There are also rumors that suggest that Amazon is working on an Android-based console that will launch as early as Black Friday. While there are no details regarding the console, it does look like the retail giant is getting into the gaming segment.

While Nylund’s exact job duties are unknown at this stage, he did say, “I can’t talk about specifics, but I wouldn’t be there unless something cool was brewing”. Nylund worked at Microsoft for 14 years where he led the narrative design team on games like Halo and Gears of War.
