Gigabyte P35-DS3R Intel Bearlake Review

A PCIE 1x slot right beneath the Northbridge chipset marks the start of the
expansion slots, followed by the primary graphics PCIE 16x slot for your display
card. 2 more PCIE 1x slots follow and then 3 stack of 3 PCI slots.

At the right bottom is where you’ll find the color-coded
Front Panel connectors. Above lies the single IDE channel connector. A whooping
bunch of 8 SATA Ports for ample storage configurations.

Right beneath the PCIE 16x slot, you will find the ICS
9PLRS587 clock generator handling the frequency
settings of the mainboard. Right beside it, exactly similar to what we have seen
on the Gigabyte 965P-DS3, lies the BIOS CMOS battery and the reset CMOS pins you
short to reset your CMOS. Definitely not the best spot to locate this, when this
board is handled by an enthusiastic overclocker who spends a lot of time trying
out dare-devil BIOS settings. He would then probably be pulling out his display
card frequently to access the reset switch.

Now, we move up towards the top half of the mainboard. On the
right side of the board lies the Dual Channel DDR2 RAM slots, 4 of them. Beside
these slots lie the 24-pin ATX power connector and the Floppy Connector.
