Gigabyte K8NXP-SLI Review

Gigabyte has always viewed BIOS protection as very important in their workstation
boards. Features that potentially able to harm system operation are hidden away
from the normal user, and will only be present upon a special hot key, ‘CTRL-F1’
is pressed. The Advanced Chipset options available will be activated upon the
hot key, and a whole range of memory tweaks are available to the user for customisation.

The Integrated peripheral settings. Gigabyte has chose to dump all the settings
into one single BIOS screen. I’d say that this might look intimidating to the
average joe who wishes to access this settings. It’d be optimal if Gigabyte
can categorise the settings into different Bios screens.

The overclocking feature settings. Users are able to toggle plenty of settings
here. Let’s take a look at them below.

Gigabyte introduces the M.I.B Technology, which optimises memory performance
for certain memory brands. A worthy effort I’d say although choices are quite
limited at the moment.

The CPU voltage settings, 1.75V is perhaps the maximum you’d want to go on
air-cooling.

Chipset Voltage settings.

HT Link voltage settings.

VDIMM settings, with a maximum of 2.8V. a little low I must say.

Up to 400HTT can be selected via the CPU Frequency settings.

The board allows users to crank their PCI-E clock up to 150Mhz

Another new feature, the Robust Graphics Booster feature. Gigabyte claims that
this will optimise performance for graphics card when it is switched on. We
did not notice a difference in our tests though.
