Galaxy S5 mini shows up on Samsung’s website, could launch as the Galaxy S5 Dx

The launch of a miniature Galaxy S5 seems imminent, though it might carry a different moniker than its predecessor.

Samsung could be preparing to launch the Galaxy S5 mini as the Galaxy S5 Dx, according to a listing of the device on the company’s UK website.

An image leaked by @evleaks clearly shows the Galaxy Dx, with the URL of the page mentioning model number SM-G800, which was earlier rumored to be attached to the Galaxy S5 mini. The phone will apparently be available in more colors than its flagship counterpart, but with mostly the same design. The back seems to carry over the textured pattern from the Galaxy S5 – the heart rate sensor doesn’t seem to have made the cut, but that shouldn’t be an issue as long as the phone is compatible with Samsung’s smartwatches.

A previous leak claimed that the Galaxy S5 mini would sport a quad-core processor, 4.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, 1.5GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, 16GB of internal storage, a 2,100 mAh battery, IR blaster, and Android 4.4 KitKat. Rumors suggest the device will be water-resistant like its bigger brother, and while there is no concrete info on its official release, it shouldn’t be long before the Galaxy S5 Dx takes a place among Samsung’s overly crowded smartphone lineup.
