Galaxy GeForce 6600LE DDR3

The GeForce 6600LE provides a rather low cost solution for budget gamers. Today, VR-Zone takes a look at another 6600LE which arrived at our labs recently, the Galaxy Geforce 6600LE. Equipped with LED fans and RAMsinks, let’s see how this card fares in performance and overclocking!

Galaxy Technology is based in Hong Kong, with other NVIDIA graphics card
makers such as Innovision and Sparkle. However, what established Galaxy’s identity is probably their line of
enthusiast products, targeted at hardware enthusiasts and overclockers alike.
One may recall the Galaxy GeForce 6 series that comes with an Arctic Cooling VGA
Silencer fan as a great example.

Today, we’ll be looking at one of the lower end graphics cards from
Galaxy. The Galaxy GeForce 6600LE DDR3 packs some interesting features that
may interest some budget overclockers and enthusiasts. One of the interesting
feature is the inclusion of Buzzer Alarm technology. Like it’s name suggests,
the buzzer would go off when the operating temperatures of this card hit
critical levels of more then 75 degrees Celcius.

Another innovation available on this card is the Dual BIOS feature. Similar
to what we see on various motherboards today, Dual BIOS offers protection by
physically having a backup BIOS chip. In case of a wrong / failed BIOS flash,
the secondary BIOS would restore the first BIOS. This feature comes in handy,
since there had been many reports of flashing a 6600GT BIOS on this card to
unlock the hidden pipelines. With this feature, users can attempt to do so
without compromising the safety of the hardware itself. These features make it feel so much like buying premium insurance for your video card!
