Futuremark has released the 3DMark 2016 beta for the holidays, allowing users to preview some of the new features that will be added to 3DMark in 2016 and also try out the VRMark 3D VR benchmark for VR headsets.
VRMark preview includes one of the benchmark’s four test environments –“Fire Strike”. Of course, you will need to have a VR headset if you wish to freely move within the benchmark environment. However, the preview is a very early release and as such is only for entertainment currently. You won’t see any benchmark score just yet. And if you don’t have a VR headset, you can still preview the benchmark with your monitor.
The preview also includes a redesigned interface for 2016, which is faster and more intuitive than before. Another important change is that you can now choose to download, install and update benchmarks independently. This will help reduce the initial download size and let you install only the tests you wish to run.
