A new report from Wired claims the Microsoft Surface phone is indeed real and that prototypes of the device are currently being developed.
The Wired team recently got a chance to visit Microsoft’s Building 87 to get an inside scoop on the development of the Surface Book. In the same building, Wired team spotted a machine working on a prototype of a new phone. Now, the fact that a smartphone prototype is being developed by the Surface team does suggest that Microsoft could be working on an eventual Surface Phone, but it doesn’t seem like the device will be launched as early as previous rumors had claimed.
And then there are chances that Microsoft may not be happy with the current prototypes and could opt to make some significant design changes, further delaying the announcement.
