So F.E.A.R. 2 doesn’t require an uber-powerful graphics card to run decently. But we musn’t forget the other half of the equation – the CPU.
In the graphics card scaling tests on the previous page, we didn’t find ourselves running into a CPU bottleneck even as we popped in progressively more powerful graphics cards.
That was with a fairly powerful processor, the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400. But what if you have a cheaper CPU – how much can this potentially affect your framerates? To answer this question, we paired a high-end graphics card, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 280, with several different processors residing in different price segments of the market.
Unfortunately we were unable to procure the AMD processors that we would have liked to use for this test, hence their absence from this review.
