E3 2014: Sony reveals release date for ‘The Last of Us Remastered’

Sony’s E3 Press Conference was filled to the brim with exciting reveals and amazing trailers, but one of the most anticipated announcements surrounded the PS4 port of Naughty Dog’s celebrated riveting drama The Last of Us.

Attending Sony’s E3 Experience event live on the big screen via a movie theater was an amazing experience. The Japanese gaming giant delivered yet another spectacular show that culminated in a dazzling array of announcements and game footage–among them was a finalized release date for The Last of Us: Remastered.

Since it was announced back in April, the PS4 flavor of Naughty Dog’s magnum opus has stirred up the gaming sphere quite a bit, with release date rumors and anticipation running wild. Everyone knew it was coming, we just didn’t know when.

At the show, Sony dispelled all of those rumors and pinpointed The Last of Us: Remastered for a July 29, 2014 release on the PS4.

The announcement was complimented with a brand new emotional trailer (see above) that showcased the game’s upgraded graphics and visuals while exposing the game’s dramatic storyline.

With the remastered version, Naughty Dog has harnessed the power of the PlayStation 4 to deliver high-definition fidelity with improved lighting and character models, all while targeting full 1080p resolution at 60 frames-per-second.

The PS4 version will come with extras including the Left Behind DLC as well as the new Grounded difficulty mode for that extra challenge. The Abandoned Territories and Reclaimed Territories multiplayer map packs are added in as well, and it has been revealed that PS3 multiplayer progress won’t translated over to the PS4–but PS3 owners will get get extra supplies to improve their progression.

The Last of Us: Remastered is slated for a release on July 29, 2014 for the PlayStation 4. For more information be sure to drop by Sony’s official blogsite.
