Dual-SIM HTC One gets Android 4.2.2 update, international HTC One burns in jealousy

The HTC One dual-SIM variant, an exclusive to the Chinese market, gets updated to the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS before the international version of the HTC One gets updated.

HTC One Dual Sim Android 4.2.2

Own a HTC One and are desperately waiting for the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update? I have no good news for you (sorry!). Tough luck buddy. But in case you’re from China and happen to own the dual-SIM variant of HTC’s flagship, then there’s a big surprise waiting. HTC has started rolling out the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the dual-SIM variant of the One.

A screenshot puts the update to the latest Android OS at 175.25 MB, which honestly is very small for all the goodies that the new OS build brings with it. Changes include:

  • Enhanced Launcher
  • New Lock Screen Design
  • Quick Settings Panel
  • Auto Focus Lock (Camera)
  • Battery Level On Status Bar

HTC One Google Edition

For those who own the international version of the HTC One, the update for your phones is bound to arrive soon as well, perhaps within the next couple of weeks itself. In case you’re really damn impatient, might we recommend a $599 HTC One Google Edition to you? Not only does it come with Android 4.2.2, but the phone will most likely be updated to Android 4.3 within a month itself. Of course, the catch is that you lose many of the exclusive HTC One software features. Ultimately, it all boils down to personal choice.
