Another day, another piece of news about information and images of unreleased smartphones getting leaked out into the depths of cyberspance. And unsurprisingly, today's highlight hails once again from the likes of well-known Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturer HTC, where details of two of its unreleased mobile phones have somehow managed to find their way into the hands of eager individuals who are only too keen to share their findings online with the rest of the world.
Well well well, check out what the rumour mill has managed to churn out over the weekend. Apparently, HTC has been doing quite a poor job of keeping its prototype units for its upcoming smartphones tightly under lock and key, for it seems that photographs and information about two upcoming models, namely the HTC Ruby and the HTC Holiday, have been spotted floating around the depths of cyberspace recently.
That being said, most of our attention is on the HTC Holiday, if only because the circumstances that led to the relevation of its details online seem a little too close to the little pre-release fiasco Apple experienced with its iPhone 4 for comfort. According to a report published by Engadget, the person who was responsible for the publication of all the photographs and details about the HTC Holiday first noticed that the prototype device was being put up on sale at Craiglist. Needless to say, this mystery person immediately purchased the phone and proceeded to upload all the images about it as evidence of his newfound acquisition.
Specs-wise, it would seem that HTC is planning to position the Holiday as a premium phone, for Engadget has claimed that the smartphone will make use of a 1.2GHz dual-core processor to provide its data crunching muscle, along with a healthy 1GB of RAM. In addition, the report also claims that the HTC Holiday sports a 4.5-inch qHD screen which is capable of a native resolution of 960 x 540, and will sport dual facing cameras, with the rear camera capable of capturing stills at the resolution of up to eight megapixels, while the front-facing camera boasts a maximum resolution of 1.3 megapixels.
Lastly, the leaked photographs have also confirmed that the Holiday will be preloaded with version 2.3.4 of the Android operating system, which suggests that HTC might plan to release the Holiday well before Google is ready with Ice Cream Sandwich.
On the other hand, details about HTC's other upcoming smartphone, the HTC Ruby, are more scarce. However, what we do know is that the Ruby will reportedly feature set of hardware specifications that are slightly superior to the HTC Holiday, for a report published by TmoNews has indicated that the Ruby will feature a 1.5GHz dual-core processor as its main computing muscle, although it still packs the same 1GB of RAM and 4.5-inch qHD display that is present on the HTC Holiday.
Last but definitely not least, the HTC Ruby will also feature dual-facing cameras, with the rear camera unit being capable of the same eight-megapixel resolution found on the aforementioned Holiday, although its front-facing camera will boast a maximum resolution of two megapixels instead of the Holiday's 1.3-megapixel resolution.
