Creative Technology showcases Pure Wireless Entertainment solution in Singapore

Creative ZiiO

Creative Technology took the world by surprise with the sudden announcement of the ZiiO Android tablets two weeks ago, which were part of their Pure Wireless Entertainment solution. Today, the Singapore-based company held a media event to showcase the new products.

Wu Yingshan, manager for marketing, Advanced Multimedia Group, Creative Technology, says that the preferred mode of entertainment is going wireless and it would be the only way.

“In April, we began our first phase of product rollout when we launched our new range of Pure Wireless speakers, consisting of one-piece wireless solution, 2.1- and 2.0-speakers. And they delivered three compelling promises to consumers: our speakers work with every single compatible Bluetooth stereo devices; they can deliver high quality wireless audio playback; and super fast and hassle-free connection,” Wu remarked.

Eugene Chong, manager for marketing, Advanced Multimedia Group, Creative Technology, also introduced the new products including the WP300 headphones, ZiiSOUND T6 speakers and the ZiiO 7-inch and 10-inch Android tablets.

Tan Lip Hwee, Manager, product marketing, Advanced Multimedia Group/Resident Acoustic Engineer, Creative Technology, was also at the event to demonstrate the audio quality of the ZiiSOUND T6 speakers.

Joseph Lee, brand manager, Advanced Multimedia Group, Creative Technology, explained that the ZiiO Android tablets are designed not to compete with the ones on the market (including the Apple iPad), but for education purposes. The ZiiO accessories include a stylus that allows users to write on the tablet.

The reason for incorporating resistive touchscreen is partly for that reason, as well as under cold conditions, it will still be responsive compared to capacitive ones, especially when one’s finger is cold.

Lee also said that while Android 2.2 (Froyo) is already available and that the ZiiO tablets are running on Android 2.1, the 2.2 update will come to the ZiiO tablets early next year. The company also plans to come out with tablets based on capacitive touchscreen, although no tentative dates were given.
