While LG wasn’t at CommunicaAsia, the other big name Korean manufacturer is. Samsung has a huge booth, showcasing their new phones and other technologies.

The new Samsung Galaxy 3 (model: I5800) is based on the Android 2.1 platform, like the Galaxy S, and is designed for youth who want social networking features. The stylish phone features the proprietary Social Hub which allows users to connect with their friends across various platforms and communicate conveniently. The Samsung Galaxy 3 will be launched in July 2010 and expanded to Europe and Asia.

The Galaxy 5 is also based on the Android platform and features an integrated phonebook and calendar and provides quick access to your social network sites, instant messenger, email and SMS/MMS.

The Samsung Omnia Pro 4 is one of the new additions to the Omnia family that features a 2.62-inch touchscreen display and full QWERTY keyboard. The Windows phone also comes with Office applications for you to open text documents and spreadsheets for viewing and editing.

Like the Omnia Pro 4, the Omnia Pro 5 is also based on Windows Mobile 6.5 and has slightly different design than its Pro 4 sibling. It has a sleek curvy body shape and full QWERTY keyboard and offers the convenience to access your social networks.

We saw the Samsung Wave 2 Pro in the glass display, though we did not get the chance to hands-on. From the above pic, you can tell that it has a slide out QWERTY keyboard, and it is likely that its based on the Samsung Bada open platform too, like the Samsung Wave.

Samsung also showcased the Galaxy Beam, which claims to be the world’s first smartphone equipped with a beam projector. It also offers powerful multimedia
features including an 8-megapixel camera with HD video recording, and a 3.7-inch Super
AMOLED WVGA display.
