Codemasters may announce next-gen titles next week

Codemasters will likely announce an F1 title for next-gen consoles next week.

It looks like Codemasters is getting ready to announce a roster of next-generation titles.

Codemasters community manager Lee Williams said on the company’s blog that this week was “like the calm before the storm,” and that the “developers are getting builds ready, the PR guys are preparing PR stuff and the Community Team are busy teasing something…” It is likely that Codemasters is getting ready to launch its first titles for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

As to what titles might be announced, there have been rumors of a new F1 game for next-gen consoles, along with a new game in the DiRT and GRID franchises. There is no mention of any Codemasters title in Sony’s list of PS4 titles that will be launching this year. However, it is feasible that Codemasters has not divulged the launch information to Sony in a bid to keep the title a secret.

While there is no information as to what Codemasters is looking to announce next week, at least we do not have to wait out. Williams concluded the blog post by saying “We’ll be back next week… and after taking a look at the weather forecast it looks like we could be in for a storm after all…” Earlier this month, Codemasters announced that it has extended its Namco Bandai deal, which means that all Codemasters games launching in 2014 will be distributed by Bandai (exclusive of Steam and other digital retailers).
