Close Look at ECS’s Intel H55, H57 & AMD 890GX Mainboards

ECS H57H-M Mainboard
Another ECS product that we managed to see is the H57H-M mainboard sporting the Intel H57 Express chipset.
In the above photo, you’d notice two 3mm LEDs with “DPS” and “GPS” silkscreen labels. These LEDs belong to the “Graphic Processor Sensor” which serves to identify the availablity of a GPU within your LGA1156 Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processor. I suspect this feature to be wildly popular in ECS’s own Research & Development laboratory; there is no way to tell by looking at the Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS) alone if an Intel sample processor is a i3, i5, or i7.
Like the A890GXM-A you’ve seen the previous page, this H57H-M belongs to the ECS Black Series as well. You do get onboard power and reset switches, and solid polymer capacitors on this mainboard. A diagnostic LED display has already been built on the mainboard, very nifty indeed.
Connectivity is standard, although there are no less than four display outputs. You’d notice a second CMOS reset switch near the ATX power header. Apparently, ECS does a lot of mainboard testing themselves, and they prefer to have the CMOS reset switch in a more accessible location.
To keep up with the competition, ECS has bundled separate PCIe expansion cards to offer SATA 6Gb/s and USB SuperSpeed. ECS is aware that the adoption of both standards have been slow, and that the user of one might not wish to have the other. This is the prime reason for ECS to shift these two options off board.
