Cisco Launches Flip MinoHD In Singapore

Flip MinoHD

At the March’s IT Show in Singapore, Cisco showcased the Flip MinoHD video camcorder at their booth, though the product wasn’t selling in stores yet. Well, the wait is finally over; Cisco has a roadshow at Vivocity from today till Sunday and the Flip MinoHD is officially available at S$349.

Yesterday, at Vivocity Singapore, Craig Gledhill, Vice President, APAC for Cisco Consumer Products gave an opening speech on the launch of the Flip MinoHD camcorder.

“First of all, we created a new category; this device (Flip MinoHD) transforms video capture and created a market that now in the US, 50% of every video camcorder sold in the market has a form factor of a shoot-and-share device. We understand that US is the largest consumer market in the world, and the largest month for consumer business in the US is in December. A lot of companies, 50% of their revenue come from December alone. So in the month of December 2009, Flip was a success. We were just nearly doubled our nearest rival competitor for the traditional and shoot-and-share category.” said Gledhill.

Besides the unveiling of the Flip MinoHD, Cisco has also announced the “Flip for Good” donor-matching initiative for Asia Pacific that would help non-profit organizations worldwide to achieve their goals with online video sharing.

Paul Foster, actor, model and media personality who is also Ambassador for Habitat for Humanity, was at the Flip event and talked about his work with the organization including charity and help building a house in Chiang Mai, and how the easy-to-use Flip would help the team to record, document on their work and share them online.

Jaymee Ong, model, actress, host and Goodwill Ambassador for World Vision International, says that video is a more powerful media as compared to still images.

“Although we have a video camcorder, we never really used it; its in the cupboard and we rarely get to use it. But with the Flip, its so small, compact and simple to use. With my work at World Vision, I can reach out to many of my friends and its a much more personal experience to see actual videos than just a photograph.”
