Less than a day after leakster @evleaks revealed the ‘Priv’ commercial name for BlackBerry’s upcoming Android slider, the company has formally announced its plans of launching the smartphone later this year.
As everyone probably knows already, the Priv will be a flagship slider device running on Google’s Android operating system. The device will bring together BlackBerry’s expertise in security and productivity with the vast app ecosystem of the Android platform.
However, BlackBerry has reiterated that its commitment to the BlackBerry 10 operating system will continue. It also confirmed that BlackBerry 10.3.3 update will be released by March next year, bringing some important security and privacy enhancements to the operating system.
Based on rumors so far, the BlackBerry Priv will feature a 5.4-inch Quad HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC, 3GB RAM, and an 18MP rear camera with optical image stabilization and dual-LED flash.
