AT&T finally updates Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean

More than seven months old and still stuck on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich? I’m afraid that’s the ordeal owners of the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 LTE have had to go through.

Ordeal made even worse by the fact that the LTE-enabled 10-incher got official Jelly Bean butter on Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile a full three months ago. But enough with the pain and sorrow and with the feeling inferior to people esentially owning the same piece of hardware.

It’s finally time for GTab 2 10.1 users on Ma Bell to rejoice, as Android 4.1.2 is rolling out to their old but still beloved tablets (model number SGH-i497). The update has been made official earlier today on AT&T’s blog and it should be available to download already.

You can’t get it OTA (over-the-air) and you’ll have to install that pesky Samsung Kies software on your PC, then hook up your tab to your computer, but do you really care at this point? Just think about it, you’re moments away from enjoying Project Butter performance enhancements, Google Now, customizable widgets and so on and so forth.

A number of bugs are to be addressed by this upgrade too, plus you’ll be happy to know that some pre-loaded software (read: bloatware) shall be removed. No, Jelly Bean is not heaven and there are no fluffy clouds, but it’s close enough. And there’s butter. What more could you want?
