ATi Mobility Radeon X600 Preview

For confidential reasons, we can’t take any pictures on this pre-production notebook
but it contains LGA775 Pentium 4 550 (3.4Ghz) on Intel 915P Express chipset and
of course the Mobility Radeon X600. The system memory used is 512MB DDR2 SDRAM
but unfortunately it runs on single channel mode currently therefore the
performance is degraded. 3DMark2003 can’t detect the core and memory speed
correctly so we use the ATi Tool to check out the clock speeds.

Using ATi Tool, the core clock is detected as 400Mhz while the memory clock is
detected as 250Mhz or 500Mhz effective


We are using the beta Catalyst 4.8 drivers for Mobility X300 and X600 only and
notice that it is slightly newer than the recent leaked Catalyst 4.8 beta
drivers for desktop GPUs. Check out the Catalyst 4.8 beta tests
