ASUS unveils new Blu-ray player and voice-cancelling headphones at CeBIT

ASUS BW-12D1S-U external Blu-ray writer

While Blu-ray might now be the standard medium of choice for the playback of HD movies, the high capacities available on a Blu-ray disc makes its suitable as a backup medium as well, and this is where ASUS comes in to fill that need with its new BW-12D1S-U external Blu-ray writer.

The external Blu-ray writer is designed for users who wish to both play and backup content on their computers, and uses a USB 3.0 connection for 12X Blu-ray writing to ensure a faster date of data transfer as opposed to the current USB 2.0 standard. As a bonus, the BW-12D1S-U also comes with built-in 3D support, 2D to 3D conversion and DVD video upscaling, making it a versatile option for PC-based high definition content consumption.
