ASUS and StarHub announce PadFone and PadFone Station in Singapore

ASUS unveiled the PadFone and PadFone Station at Mobile World Congress in February this year. Today, the Taiwanese company has announced that the PadFone and PadFone Station will go on retail from 2 June next month, and exclusive to local teleco StarHub.

The ASUS PadFone is powered by 1.5GHz Qualcomm 8260A Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor and Adreno 225 GPU, and runs Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD display, 8-megapixel camera with Fuji image processor and F2.2 aperture, and ASUS SonicMaster audio technology for superior audio experience. On the left are the micro-USB and micro-HDMI connectors which can dock neatly to the PadFone Station tablet device. The PadFone is also equipped with 1520mAh lithium-ion battery and boasts up to 15.6 hours of talktime, and up to 360 hours of standby time.

Simply dock the phone to the back of the PadFone Station and it becomes a fully-functional 10.1-inch Android tablet. The PadFone Station works as a portable and larger touchscreen display to the PadFone, and it also recharges the phone for up to 64 hours of extended usage. Place the PadFone Station onto the PadFone Station keyboard dock, and you have a working "notebook PC"-like device. There is also an optional Bluetooth stylus headset that lets you draw effortlessly and picks up calls at the same time. Say, if you have already docked the PadFone into the PadFone Station, and a call comes in, you can either answer the call with a cabled headset, a wireless Bluetooth headset, or the Bluetooth Stylus headset. The PadFone Station Dock also has its own battery that charges the PadFone for up to 102 hours of use, and comes with additional USB ports and card reader.

The ASUS PadFone will retail at S$800 before telco subsidies from 2 June, and customers who want the PadFone Station can get it with a S$328 top up. The PadFone Station Dock and Bluetooth Stylus headset are priced at S$228 and S$128 respectively. StarHub customers who pre-order the PadFone and PadFone Station between 25 to 31 May will receive the PadFone Station Dock and Bluetooth Stylus headset for free.
