Android 4.2.2 for Xperia Z leaked, screenshots and download link inside [UPDATED – Video]

The long-awaited Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Sony Xperia Z has been leaked. Also, we have the first screenshots of the leaked firmware showing off Sony’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean UI.

The Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the flagship Sony Xperia Z is out for all enthusiasts to download and flash on to your phones right now (to those who know what they’re doing, directly skip to the source link below). In case you wish to flash the leaked firmware right away, know that your phone needs to have its bootloader unlocked.

Users were waiting with hot anticipation for Sony to update their flagship phones to the latest version of Android. While the update isn’t out officially, it comes in more than a month after Samsung introduced the Galaxy S4 (with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean). The HTC One is also just about to officially receive the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update (any day now).

Users quickly flashed the Xperia Z 4.2.2 leaked ROM (by well-known developer DooMLorD) which has a build number of 10.3.A.0.407. Sadly, the Linux kernel remains at 3.4 with the update (we were expecting an update to kernel 3.6). Have a look at the screenshots of the refreshed Android 4.2.2 UI by Sony.

The new UI is largely similar to the present Sony Android 4.1.2 UI by Sony, save for a few subtle changes and the usual new features that the latest iteration of Jelly Bean brings with it. We hope that the official update begins rolling out soon and other phones in Sony’s 2013 line up (Xperia ZL, ZR, SP, L and Z Tablet) get the update soon.
