AMD May Launch Dual Core Opteron In Q2

AMD which originally was scheduled to launch its dual-core Opteron processor in the third quarter of this year, may advance the launch to the middle of the second quarter. AMD will launch its dual-core Opteron 200 (Italy) and 800 (Egypt) series processors in Q2 and Opteron 100 (Denmark) series is expected to hit the market in the third quarter. “Pacifica” virtualization technology will be integrated into AMD’s complete lineup of client and server processors in the first half of 2006.
