AMD CPU/GPU Merged Design on 45nm

According to a interview conducted by ZDNet with Phil Hester, CTO of AMD, we can anticipated some interesting ideas and plans coming in the near future. Firstly, AMD will platformize the commercial desktop , the Athlon FX, 64 and Sempron space, which means coming out with their own chipsets (ATi’s) and reference board design etc. AMD has been talking to Apple Computer and Apple has shown interests but no decisions to employ AMD chips yet. AMD mention that this time next year, they will have a quad-core chip and they know how to do a glueless eight-socket system. AMD plans to integrate CPU & GPU together in the 45nm time frame, which is 2008.
