Almond has introduced two new wireless routers with touchscreen doubles that can also help control your smart home. The Almond 2015 and the Almond+ support ZigBee home automation standards, saving you from the trouble of getting two different devices.

While the two Almond routers may be hybrid devices of sorts, they are still very capable routers and offer a number of impressive features. The Almond 2015 and the Almond+ routers offer Wi-Fi extender, Access Point, and Wi-Fi Bridge functionality. The cheaper Almond 2015 has a range of 3000 sq.ft while the more expensive Almond+ has a range of 5000sq.ft. Being the more expensive model, the Almond+ offers dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity with maximum supported download speeds up to 1300 Mbps in the 5GHz spectrum. The cheaper Almond 2015 router only supports the 2.4GHz band and maximum download speeds up to 300Mbps.

Coming to the home automation features offered by the two devices, the Almond+ is the only one to be compatible with both ZigBee and Z-Wave standards. So you will be able to control various home automation modules such as your thermostat, smartlocks, lights, security, and much more.

Almond has priced the new Almond 2015 router at $99 while the Almond+ will cost you $199.
