[Rumour] Nvidia Geforce GTX 480 TDP at 275W

Initially expected to be rated at ~220W, Fermi/GF100’s troubled development meant rumours of as high as 280W was circulating around the internet by the time it was demonstrated at CES 2010. Of course, Nvidia denied these rumours.

Following further information and leaks during Cebit 2010, against Nvidia’s precautions, a TDP of close to 300W for the GTX 480 became more widespread.

Following further information and leaks during Cebit 2010, against
Nvidia’s precautions, a TDP of close to 300W for the GTX 480 became more
widespread.

SemiAccurate is now reporting that after work by the Nvidia engineers to reduce the TDP, the final TDP now stands at 275W.

Unfortunately, it seems as though the OEM and Nvidia’s clients were not informed of the official TDP, and this is bound to cause some confusion.

As always, with Fermi, you can only be certain once it is out in the market for real.
